 دئودورانت ها دسته ای از محصولات آرایشی بهداشتی هستند که برای کاهش بوی زیربغل استفاده می شوند. دئودورانت ها نسبت به ضدعرق ها پوست را کمتر تحریک می کنند. در اروپا استفاده از دئودورانت ها نسبت به آنتی پرسپیرانت ها رایج تر است در حالی که در آمریکا برعکس است و مردم بیشتر ترجیح می دهند از ضدعرق ها استفاده کنند.

 دئودورانت های چگونه عمل می کنند؟ مکانیسم دئودورانت ها 1. کاهش ترشحات عرق

 عرق بدن محلول آبی نسبتاً اسیدی ، عمدتاً حاوی سدیم کلرید ، پتاسیم کلرید، لاکتیک اسید و اوره و یک روغن آلی است ، لذا عرق بدن ذاتاً بی بو است ، علت بوی بد عرق آن است که باکتریهای روی سطح پوست روغن آلی عرق را تجزیه کرده ، حاصل این واکنش محصولاتی بدبو(عمدتاً شامل اسیدهای کربوکسلیک) است و بوی بد عرق مربوط به آن است فراورده های ضد بو حاوی یک ماده باکتری کش (آنتی بیوتیک) است که با کشتن این باکتری ها مانع از ایجاد بوی بد می شوند در ضمن این فراورده حاوی مواد معطر کننده (اسانسها) نیز می باشد. پوشاندن بوی بد با استفاده از دئودورانت مواد معطر برای پوشاندن بوی نامطبوع عرق در دئودورانت ها گنجانده شده است. دئودورانت های کلاسیک حاوی 0.2 تا 1.5 درصد اسانس یا ماده معطر هستند. اسانس مورد استفاده در دئودورانت ها به عنوان یک ماده پوشاننده یا ماسک کننده عمل می کند. در فرمولاسیون ترکیبات دئودورانت، ترکیباتی مانند سدیم بی کربنات نیز یافت می شود که با اسیدهای چرب 6 تا 11 کربنه مولد بوی عرق واکنش داده و ترکیبات صابونی بی بو تشکیل می دهند.

 تفاوت دئودورانت ها و آنتی پرسپیرانت ها دئودورانت ها به محصولات آرایشی بهداشتی خوشبوکننده بدن گفته می شود و آنتی پرسپیرانت نامی است که به محصولات آرایشی بهداشتی ضدعرق اطلاق می شود. فراورده های ضد عرق از طریق مسدود کردن غدد عرق توسط ترکیبات آلومینیم (مثل آلومینیم کلروهیدرات و قویتر از آن آلومینیم – زیرکونیم کلروهیدرات ) یعنی همان مکانیزمی که باعث کنترل جوهر دهی خودکارمی شود مانع از تولید عرق شده و بدین وسیله منجر به ایجاد پوستی خشک و بی بو می شوند. اما دئودورانت ها یا محصولات آرایشی بهداشتی خوشبوکننده با از بین بردن باکتری های عرق و همچنین پوشاندن بوی بد بدن با مواد خوشبوکننده با بوی بد عرق مبارزه می کنند.

 دئودورانت ها به فرم اسپری بسیار رایج هستند اما فراورده های ضدعرق به فرم رولان (roll-on) و مالیدنی (stick) در بازار موجود هستند. در حال حاضر FDA استفاده از فراورده ضد عرق(Anti-persperant) را به فرم اسپری ممنوع اعلام کرده است. دئودورانت های حاوی ترکیبات ضدعرق استفاده از ترکیبات ضدعرق در فرمولاسیون دئودورانت ها می تواند به کاهش ترشحات غدد اکرینی کمک کند. ترکیبات ضدعرق خواص آنتی میکروبیال عالی در برابر استافیلوکوکوس اپیدرمیس و باکتری های کورینی دارند. اسیدی بودن نمک های آلومینیوم عامل مهمی در مهار رشد باکتری ها می باشد.
