Because of its origins: The sperm whale eats cuttlefish, whose bones are indigestible and painful to its stomach lining. As a result, it secretes a substance that surrounds the bones. Orris: The “butter” from the dried roots of the iris flower, orris is a prized and expensive perfume ingredient that creates a rich, earthy, carroty, powdery effect in fragrances. In Balenciaga Le Dix, and showcased and highlighted in Serge Lutens’ haunting Iris Silver Mist. (intothegloss.com)

Oud/Agarwood: Made from the resin of the Aquilaria tree, which it emits when it’s attacked by pathogens, oud has an animalic, earthy, woody, tobacco, sometimes camphory quality that is complex and dark. Most scents featuring oud use a synthetic version, because the real stuff is understandably expensive to harvest. Regardless, its popularity doesn’t seem to be waning. L’Artisan Al Oudh and Christian Dior Leather Oud are incredibly animalic iterations, and a more romantic “feminine” version is in Kilian Rose Oud. Vetiver: An essential oil steam-distilled from the roots of a tall grass native to India—though Haiti is now its largest producer. It has an earthy, peppery, lemony, dusty scent that has been used extensively in perfumery. Guerlain Vetiver and Hové Parfumerie Vetivert are two great examples of this important perfume note.  نیمفیا آلبا (نیلوفر آبی) به آب های ساکن علاقه دارد. به همین علت می توان آن را در دریاچه ها، برکه ها و بخش هایی از رودخانه که آب آن ساکن شده، پیدا کرد. این گیاه تقریباً در سرتاسر اروپا، آسیا، آفریقای شمالی و آمریکای لاتین پخش شده است. نیلوفر آبی را می توان از روی برگ های پهن، شناور و قلبی شکلش به آسانی شناسایی نمود. گل های آن صبح زود بر روی سطح آب باز شده و نزدیک غروب بسته می شود. یک گیاه افسانه ای نیلوفر آبی همیشه توجه بشر را به خود جلب کرده و حضور تاریخی در افسانه های اقوام مختلف دارد. یونانیان قدیم این گیاه را سمبل زیبایی و هنر سخن پردازی می دانستند. مردم فریزلند (قبیله ای قدیمی در هلند) عقیده داشتند مدالی که نیلوفر آبی بر روی آن قرار دارد افتخار آورده و انسان را شکست ناپذیر می کند. یک گیاه دارویی سنتی ساقه های زیر زمینی ریشه مانند نیلوفر آبی در طب سنتی به عنوان مسکن و آرام بخش استفاده می شده است. جوشانده آن جمع کننده بافت های نرم و بند آور خون است. گل ها و ساقه های زیر زمینی آن طراوت دهنده بوده و ویژگی های تسکینی دارد. و بالاخره نیلوفر آبی برای تهیه لوسیون های آرام بخش برای پوست استفاده می شده است. اجزاء دارویی  آلکالوئیدها : nupharine و nupharidine که دومی ظاهراً ویژگی های ضد توموری دارد.

 کربوکسیلات ها دسته ایی از شوینده ها هستند که گروه آبدوست آن ها (گروه آنیونی) از یک گروه کربوکسیل –COOH حاصل شده است. صابون ها نمک های قلیای خاکی اسیدهای چرب می باشند مانند C17H35COONa که نمک سدیمی استئاریک اسید و یک صابون است. هم اکنون کربوکسیلات های اصلاح شده با گروه های عاملی اضافی به صورت تجاری موجود می باشند. این تغییرات موجب افزایش حلالیت در آب های سخت می شود.
